I love these kinds of questions!
Some people like structure - mission statement, vision statement, objectives, milestones and debriefs.
Some people like unstructured existence. They are the mavericks, the impulsive, the creative folks.
And then there are opportunists - these are hybrids - they exist in the creative realm and when they spot opportunity they also enjoy execution.
Having a god, a purpose in life, duties in different phases of life makes some people feel the warmth of their infantile security needs. They like their yellow blankie during day and night. :)
The true jedi's understand the "accident" of life and live it like children on a beach. The children on a beach are quiet, carrying their plastic buckets and shovels singlemindedly pursue building a sand castle without exchanging a single word. It is the expression of their mind's imagination that counts. They are aware that the next big wave may swallow their hard-won creation yet they soldier on.
There is no big purpose, we are here so just make a decent existence of it. Build your own 'sandcastle' so that you may feel smug at the end of it.

I love this question!!!
The Why? is easy...you are here simply "to be, or not to be"...you see, in every given moment you are in an experience...and in every experience you have the opportunity to be or not to be what you choose of that.
Ex: You are confronted with an experience of being lonely...you have the choice of the moment to either remain in that state, or change it to not being lonely...Which best reflects the YOU you want to "be"? See???
Life here is simply a gazillion opportunities to experience...to be. You see, at Home, we don't have a need to do this...we "know" who & what we are...however, there is a vast difference between "knowing" & "being", and although we love our Home and all about it, it is a wonderful journey to go outside this realm and re-discover ourselves as we once were.
And in case you were wondering, Earth is a culmination of the most negative energies in Creation...it provides the most opportunities to have the most experiences in shortest amount of time. We are very courageous for having chosen this to have a lifetime in, and when we return Home, there will be great celebration for our accomplishments!!! Those accomplishments, by the way, are guaged by what you originally planned to experience (your agenda) & the choices you made in having them...you are the only judge of this.
Hope I rang your soul chimes! Good Journey!!!

We are here to learn and to grow spiritually. I believe life is a test of good and bad times. We all have a purpose here. Finding it is the hardest part.

To reproduce as many times as we can and make this world keep going. Oh yeah, and to steal all the oil in the Middle East and kill all the people we reproduced to keep this world going.

did you know that in fact every element of the human body consists of the same elements found in the universe? so the bigger question is what is the universe. and if you ask me i like it just the way it is, never quite understanding it and all the possibilities. we would be lifeless without imagination.

this sounds like a philosophy question. Psychology only deals with coping with life, not why.
