Just curious.

Stephen: I'll take that as a "no." Reason it matters is because I spent all day yesterday getting nasty comments from conservatives because I refuse to mourn Falwell, a man who spewed hatred everywhere he went. This woman worked hard for people to spread compassion and decency, and there's not ONE WORD about her from the right wing.

That's why it matters.

islam: Typically... classy people don't have to tell everyone that they have class. It just shows. And it lacks class to point out that you have it.

I don't know the woman. I will mourn her as I will mourn Jerry Falwell. Hmm...wonder who the third one will be? They always come in threes.

Why does everything seem to have to boil down to politics? Does it really matter if someone is conservative or liberal? That should not make the difference whether someone mourns someone or not :/

(I'm not really saying this TO you, but more just to point out that if compassionate conservatives aren't mourning, is it because liberals are?)

My thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends. The only reason this is even in the news is the fact that her father was MLK, not because of anything she personally did in life. Read the Yahoo! News story linked below "Daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. dies".

Don't be so hard on us!!! I had to look her up to fing exactly who she was. I suspected she was a part of Marting Luther family but not sure how. I am a conservative and for your information I am always sadden at death in a family no matter whose. Especially when they are so young yet. You know, some people can actually seperate politics from tragedies.

I just found out she died like five minutes ago. The world has lost a voice that should have been paid more attention before today, she had class and was a role model who should have been hilighted more than she was. Its too bad she died so young. And I am a conservative.

Never heard of her till this point. However, I'll pray for her family that God gives them the strength to stand and get through this. May they be comforted by knowing that she is with the Father where there is no pain and no suffering.

just more excuses why we should mourn a hateful person like Falwell, but not a great leader (obviously thery don;t realize that she carried on her father's legacy...she wasn;t 'just the daughter' of MLK) like King. As a conservative I mourn her passing. It was great people like her who have done more to further equality among americans, than gov't ever did. We true conservatives will miss her.

Not yet. But Yolanda was a woman of color and one cannot expect compassionate conservatives to have sympathy for those outside the pale.

Let's be honest - could one out of ten even have named ANY of MLK's children? Or accurately reported anything she had done or said?

Her death makes news largely because of who her father was. Sad, but not a major moment in the world.

I did not know her personally. It is always sad when someone dies.

I am a conservative
