Not really. I was into this group called Les Nubians, a french soul group of two women. I didn't understand a word of any of it. But it sounds so good. Later they put more english into their records, but I didn't think those english versions sounded as good as the french ones, and I don't speak french mind you. Awesome group, you should look them up. You won't be disappointed. I was also into T.a.T.u., their early stuff was all Russian. Couldn't understand, but loved it. Listening to different types of music just makes you more cultured than the average person who limits themselves to a certain "type" based on race.

Growing up I didn't speak English, yet the majority of music I listened to was English. I didn't find it weird. I liked the music and the sound of the words. Later, I learned to speak English. I do admit that some of the songs would have been eliminated from my list had I understood the lyrics.

What is wrong with that? As long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters. Look at the bright side, you may learn a new language by listening to enough Spanish language music.

I have aquestion for you, Are you listening to the music just because everyone else is listening to it, or do you really enjoy it?

If you really enjoy it, by all means it is perfectly naturally to listen to the music you enjoy, but if you listen to it to blend with the 'in' crowd, then it is wrong.

As for me, I like some raggae, and so little old school rap, from th eearly 90's, that it is hard to find the music I like. Oh and by the way-I HATE the rap now-a-days-it is like someone forgot to put the "C" on the front of that word.

I listen to opera which is sung mostly in Italian. Whatever music you enjoy, A lot of old 50's music in the US made it to the top ten and the songs weren't in English-Volare, Sukiaki(however it was spelled)...
