For a number of years I worked with ex-convicts, training them in construction skills. A great many of them went on to accept good jobs in the industry and have become productive and responsible members of society.

It's not as if it's a choice. Ex-convicts are accepted back into society every day. People go to prison, then they get let out, and thus they are back in society.
It's not whether we accept them back, it's how we deal with them once they are back.

You know, it depends on the crime.
As a parent, if that *convict* hurt a child in anyway, then no. I would be the first person knocking on doors to let my neighbors know this person has moved in, etc...
There are some things that are just unforgivable.

I used to work South Carolina Dept. Of Corrections....True Story......18 year old sign up to go in ARMY in 2 weeks he and freind were going to steal a lady's purse...they panicked...put lady in car rode around with her all night bought Mc donald's.....did not harm her physically...dropped her off 3 blocks from her home....she went to court asked judge not to punish them to harshly because they did not harm her....they both got 999 years....one going in ARMY...was @ my Work release Center he was 41 model prisoner...made parole....in my opinion this man deserved a second chance by the time he was 21. We all make mistakes. It feels good to get a second chance. Hope you do Well on your report.

There would always be a doubt in the back of my mind and it would be hard for me to accept them. If they are sexual offenders, I could never accept them. I feel there is little chance they could be reformed.

any day. i will accept them back.
they were probably improsioned for stealing a slice of bread, for their starving family, from a rich guy who can afford may loaves of bread. or a penny. and besides, weren't they the one's (alongside the aboriginies) who built the foundations and basis of today's society?

I think the severity of the crime would determine how willing society would bring them back. An ex theif I would welcome with open arms miles before I would an ex ax murderer.
