I miss cracker night (hand held fireworks now banned). I miss speeding along a country highway (strict speed limits). There are always 'good' reasons for taking away these things - but is anybody going to legislate to return the feeling of freedom and self responsiblity and exhileration of living that these things once gave.. What do others think? No moralistic lectures please.

It's very ironic that the two examples you used, happen to have touched the lives of a couple of people i know:
My beautiful aunt lost an eye to fire crackers many years ago, and our neighbors lost their son to a speeding accident on a country road.
The fact that the ones you love are safe, may be from the safety created by banning these dangers. I assure you that if any of these things would happen to your loved ones, you'd feel differently about their exhilaration being worth the loss.

I miss riding in the front seat of my car with no seat belt on. I miss being able to speak my mind without worrying about being charged with some form of hate crime/sexual harassment. I miss being able to buy firearms without having to ask permission. I miss being able to use a spring board in a swimming pool. Most of all, because it's one of the most recent, I miss being able to play online poker.
