My wife & I have gotten hooked on Bollywood movies with their catchy dance numbers and heartistic themes. We are new to the genre and have a hard time telling the difference between the A-movies and the B-movies. For example, Dhadkan and Baghban were wonderful, but Bride & Prejudice was just so-so. Some others were downright horrible. What other good, high quality movies would you recommend?

Check out Devdas, Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham, ....
Basically Amitabh Bachhan movies, Ram Gopal Verma movies.
You might want to expand onto "regional" cinema - recommend Kamal Haasan movies in Tamil. Or period pieces by K Balachander if you are into artsy stuff.
And of course, Mani Ratnam movies - esp. Nayagan.
A recent movie we really liked - Dor (hindi).
Most of them have english subtitles these days and netflix carries a good inventory.

"36 Chinatown" is awesome/funny l0l...
and I liked "Raaz" as well, it's meant to be scary.
Oh you should definitely watch "Veer Zaara". << that one's heaps good.
"Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" has already been said, you've got to watch it...
I think "ishq" is cool too, it's one of the older movies though but still good.
