Ok:) I am looking for advice on the best ways to DESCRETLY breast feed in public. I don't have a lot of money so items from home are what i'd be using. My Baby WON'T take a bottle so that won't even work lol... Thanks

I simply hold my baby to the breast, and let my shirt fall down around what's left showing. I NEVER go to a bathroom to breastfeed. I NEVER use a blanket anymore. Too much hassel and babies tend to hate having their face covered. People never even know I'm breastfeeding - they think I'm cuddling my baby!

Think of it like this: Would you like to eat lunch in a dirty bathroom? Would you like to eat lunch with a blanket over your face?

For me, at first, I would go off into a restroom or something with my son, but after awhile, I simply covered with a blanket. It took me awhile to get the whole, whip a breast out and get a baby latched on while having a blanket over my shoulder, but with a little practice you'll be able to get it down too.
Also, pay no mind to people who look at you funny because you're breastfeeding. You have every right to do it where ever you want to. Think about it, animals all breastfeed and it's the only natural way to feed your baby. Good for you!!!

I just wear loose fitting shirts. When baby wants to nurse, I pull him close, then lift up the side of the shirt, keeping the other breast and half of my stomach covered by the shirt. I get my baby latched on, then pull the fabric down to cover any part of my breast not covered by my baby's head. His body covers the rest of my stomach. Only a little bit of skin on my side right above my hip is showing, but if I sit in an armchair or my husband sits next to me noone can see that.

If you are nervous about nursing in public, you could try nursing in front of a mirror at home first so that you can perfect your technique before you go out. Good luck, and way to go for giving your baby the best start in life!

Congrats on breastfeeding your baby!
My first advice for discret nursing is... DO NOT throw a baby blanket over you shoulder!! That is like putting up a sign that says "Hey I'm breastfeeding under here!" And you don't need expensive "nursing" clothes either! What always worked for me was wearing a simple tee-shirt with a loose button-shirt over that. Comfy and complety covered when you lift up the T-shirt from the bottom...the over shirt covers the breast and the baby from any exposure.
Good luck!
I nursed my babies EVERYWHERE! We never used bottles or formula for any of our 3 kids! We saved so much money and it was so easy!

If breastfeeding in public may be banned then so ought to all people eating in public!! Hell breastfeeding is greater organic then those footwear you have on your ft! i think of that is disgusting that breastfeeding is even stated in one among those way!! So what? There might nicely be fashions showing there ins and outs yet a mom feeding her toddler is incorrect? So sick

All you need to do is take a baby blanket with you. Make sure it is big enough for you to stay covered while helping baby latch on. Good Luck!

I used a baby blanket draped over my shoulder on the side that my daughter was feeding from.. Her feet were the only thing stuck out so everyone knew what was going on, they just couldn't see;)

Use a light weight blanket to cover the baby so the baby can still breath easily. Wear a stretchable low cut top so that you can easily maneuver your breast.

Wear clothes that are easy for you to nurse in first of all. I wore shirts that were easy to drape around baby so all you could see was her head. And use a lightweight blanket. If you are at the mall, department stores like Von Maur and Yonkers have nursing areas in their womens restrooms.

Get a nursing apron or if you can sew, make one yourself. My girl would get hot under a receiving blanket, too. Take a look at this site (to order or get design ideas). It's open at the top so the baby won't get hot and so you can see her!
