If you can't get any dirt on him while he's alive, burn him after he's dead.

They are attacking a dead man and the only one that they are causing pain to is his family. These are the same people who will shove a microphone into the face of a victim of natural disaster and ask them how they feel. They do not show a lick of common sense. They have no compassion for those in pain. If you agree with the man or not this is not the time to vilify him.

Because he was vocal in his response.
Liberals want those who they disagree with to remain silent.
They talk a good game about sepration of church and state but have not problem with two pastors telling them what to do on race.
Or have Bill Clinton speak in more churchs and use the words like Jesus and G-d more than than Bush.
I didn't agree with Falwell but he did some great things too. He set up a place with women who were pregant to take care of them and give the child a home to be adopted.
That man is gone now a little respect would be in order now. However you won't find that here.

Why do you limit your question to "liberals?" I had this same conversation last night with a very conservative friend of mine, who was practically gloating over Falwell's death.
I'm not kidding.
In any case, I agree with you. I didn't agree with Falwell's mission or his antics, but I think it's dishonorable to behave as some are.
--------------
As for some knuckleheads on this forum who compare "libs" to terrorists, the Taliban, Communists, etc., I think you should carefully review your own standards of self-respect and honor before casting stones. Shame on you for your tone to your fellow Americans.

I won't attack him, but I certainly won't grieve his loss. He was a religious demagogue with some very skewed ideas, and was kind of clueless about the message Jesus actually gave - love everybody - even your enemies. I do see your point though - some so-called "compassionate liberals" aren't as compassionate as they might like to think. Let him rest in peace - the merits of his arguments will succeed or fail based whether they make any sense, and I think over time they WILL fail because they do NOT make sense.

I don't think any one here, if we were alive, would be paying respect to Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Jim Jones, or any other crack pot if they passed.
In my opinion, Jerry Falwell was a hateful human being. I'm not going to apologize for not being sad. People die it's inevitable and life goes on.

With all due respect: I attacked him while he was alive, too. The fact he died doesn't earn my respect. Of course, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal, either.

I agree. I've never even listened to the man, therefore, his death doesn't mean much to me. However, those who are openly jumping up and down with glee disgust me.
These certainly can't be adults, can it?
