The gas companies already have their money when they sold the gas to your local station. So by not buying gas for a day, you are really just hurting your local economy. But don't worry: It doesn't hurt it that much. They make it up the next when everyone that didn't buy gas for a day buys it the next day. So it all evens out in the end.

So what really did the gas boycott yesterday accomplish?

Retards think it'll work. The boycott accomplished nothing.

The boycott accomplished nothing. It would only be effective if a large number of people decided not to buy any gas until the prices went down.

Not a single thing! If we want to have a gas boycott, It needs to be long term. Carpool or use public transportation to get to work and walk or ride your bike on your days off. Only then, when consumption of gas actually goes down, will prices go down.

The boycott did nothing in my area. Every station is still charging the same ridiculous prices. We have to think long-term if we really want to see prices drop. When we went through this in the 70's, people responded by buying more economical cars, and prices eventually became more stable as demand levelled off.

the reason it doesn't work is because millions of people still bought gas, in 1997 after the gas boycott on May 15, gas decreased by 15 cents within 3 days, so i guess we will have to wait 2 more days if anything happened.

Nobody with any brains in their head.

The "boycott" was yesterday. Yesterday morning, gas prices all over my county in Maryland had gone up 6 cents per gallon.

This morning, they were up ANOTHER 2 cents per gallon.

I guess everybody made sure they tanked up Monday evening. So much for the boycott reducing prices. What a bunch of nitwits.

I know, right? People just don't think! The gas boycott might have actually HELPED companies yesterday because everyone was like, "oh man, i gotta go fill up before the 15th!"

You nailed it! It accomplished absolutely nothing. Boycotting for a day does nothing.

Actually, if it's effective enough it will help the oil companies more!! Think about it, if these companies realize that no one will come to their gas station on a particular day they just won't staff it for the day and save millions on labor.

Doesn't work at all, didn't accomplish anything. You're absolutely right. Our need doesn't go away just because we waited a day to buy gas. They know it, and we know it. The people who refused to buy gas yesterday didn't impact the gas companies AT ALL.

It accomplished nothing, as it has accomplished nothing for the past 7 years.

The gas boycott is completely bogus, an internet Urban Legend.

ADDITION: Amazing...now even facts from an independent source get the lib thumbs down.
