Yes i suppose we are. no one can get inside out head to read our thoughts (although im sure a way to do this will soon be invented by scientists somewhere) but maybe thats best. thoughts are in our heads for a reason, because they are our private inner feelings and opinions. there are lots of things i think that i am glad i am just thinking not saying. without thinking we would just say everything out loud, so yes the world would be a more honest place but one big war zone. But i dont think this makes us alone, we are free to express our thoughts which means we express the thoughts we feel it is appropriate to and keep the ones we feel we shouldnt inside our head, but obviously for some people these builds up and they go mad and have to talk to a psycyatrist

By the normal definition of alone, no.
You may have a different way of defining alone to the way most other people do, if you do, only you can answer your question.
I would point out that most people are capable of sharing some of their thoughts and feelings with others.
Being lonely is not exactly the same as being alone, or did you mean something else?

yes it is true that we are really always alone from birth to death. have you ever thought that that's the reason why so many people go crazy these days? it's because no one can actually get inside your brain and change the thoughts that you have in your head.

Our thoughts are our own, so does that mean we are alone? Physically we can be with or near people, but mentally and spiritually is something else. It's interesting, but what if someone has similar thoughts that you identify and agree with? I know that two people can never be exactly the same, but I don't think that has to means you have to be alone. At the end of the day, we exist. Buddists believe that we are all somehow connected, that is everything is connected. Have you ever felt a connection to someone close to you, a bond that makes you want to be near them? I do with my children. It's a difficult one to answer 'yes' or 'no' to, because the subject is not so cut and dry. There are so many things we do not know about ourselves, and your question is somewhat of a spiritual one.

It just depends on whether you have religion or not. Some people think different. Although you will be left alone to handle life's problems. You may get advice from others that influence the thoughts in your head. So in a way people (friends & family) might be inside your head to help you in life. If they have such a profound effect in your life.

Yes, in that sense, for sure. Its why in some situations no amount of empathy or reassurances can make you feel any better or comforted. It's why even when your surrounded by people you have that feeling that you may as well be in the desert.
In your journey you may find companionship, you may find love, but ultimately the trip is yours to take. I like to think of it as not being alone, but a chance to grow, to know myself.
The other "theory" (I use the term loosely!) is that were never alone in these moments as God's always by our side.
Guess it comes down to that age old debate again............

In my opinion I believe that we are never alone! Why? Well lets look at the outside our bodies, there are over a million people out there and one of them is properly thinking the same way we are, no one is ever alone. We might not be thinking the exact same thing but I do believe that in one way or the other we have similar thoughts. So to answer your ? , no we are not alone in thoughts.

In fact, yes. A lot of what people do in their life can be explained as an effort to simulate the false and unknowable condition of sharing thoughts and feelings. Parties, alliances, friendships, etc are all based on the desire not to be truly alone. But I think, as you point out, we really are alone, no matter what we do to avoid it.

TRULY a very very interesting question. Here's my opinion. The concept you expressed is very true, but think on this: As no one can really know what's in our thoughts or heads, shouldn't we LET them know so that we will be better understood?
Now of course, at some point or another, even the most overt person WILL be misunderstood - it is just a part of life, but SHARING can easily solve a lot of your concerns.
Cheers!

No! We have the ability to empathise, listen and use our common experiences to understand others and in turn, be understood. If the people around you are not doing this for you, then it is a big world and there are people out there who can and will understand you, find them.
We are complex creatures and hugely individual, there are billions of us though, it is arrogant in the extreme to think we are alone.
If man is an island, then that island is part of a dense archipelago, and our neighbours are in shouting distance.
