Personally I don't think there is ever a time when I would take the law into my own hands. The law is there to protect the people and we have to trust that it does that. If we don't believe it does then we should change it by changing governments/policy makers etc.
Having said that I think it's hard to be objective. A relation was married to an abusive partner and I would have done anything to be able to make him suffer the way he made her suffer, even if it meant breaking the law.
However, I didn't as there are, ultimately, ways of dealing with situations that don't require that a person take the law into their own hands.

If my family was in any danger than i would do anything to protect them. I remeber a big news story a few years back, where a farmer hit a burgler with a bat on the head and killed him, he did not mean to intentionaly kill him, but the poor farmer had to serve a good few years in jail, i think they should change that law in the UK, like in the US you are allowed to keep guns and use them in self defence...i think you are anyway! But we should have a law where we are allowed to protect our selves in anyway, even if it meant using a weapon! I mean now, if a burgler comes what are we supposed to do? Just hit them with a cushion hoping it doesnt scratch them or we get sued!!

only 1 thing and thats my kids if anyone harmed them in any way then yes, no hesitation at all. the law is a joke and until they change it i wont abide by it when it comes to my kids being hurt.

If someone interferred with my children or neices or nephews - Id happily do time for that
- and I have never been in trouble with the law.

If my families lives were in mortal danger by some madman - would not think twice about killing them - no hesitation whatsoever

if someone broke into my house to harm my family
if someone hurt my kids
if someone was hurting/molesting any child
if someone was hurting an elderly person who could not defend them self
If someone was beating a dog, cat or other animal and torturing it

if ever anyone harmed my family or even my little cat, i think id really try and kill them. i couldnt bear someone even harming my cat on purpose and really feel id have the pain and anger inside me to harm them back.
