Yes, the small gold feeder fish you se at all pet shops are goldfish. Guppies and some minnows, such as rosey reds, are also sold as feeder fish and are of course not goldfish. Feeder goldfish are nothing more than small goldfish bred in huge numbers with no reguard to genetics, health or appearance.

They are a goldfish yes..There are many kinda of goldfish...I have raised feeder goldfish for many years because I feel bad for them..Out of 10 that you may buy maybe only 8 or so will live due to lack of feeding in the pet shops and on the fish farms...But I will tell you..I have had some grow to be about 8 inches and very fat and happy..All the different colors and tail sizes...They are a very fun and friendly fish..If you are interested do get some and save a life...Good Luck

No. Feeder fish are fish that you use as food. Nothing that you would put into a tank that's nice to look at. There are all kids of feeder fish. I currently have rosy reds in my feeder tank. Guppies are pretty common. Goldfish feeders are used for larger fish that can handle their larger scales.

Not necessarily. Goldfish can be feeder fish, but some other species can also be feeder fish. Feeder fish = fish which is given for food to other (fish eating) species.

Feeder fish are generally "culls" they can be any number of species. People that keep predatory fish often raise their own, some predators require tiny fish as feeders and Convict Cichlids are great providers of fry for these types. Guppies are another popular source of feeders.
Caution must be exercised when using feeders because many times they are disease carriers, raised in less than sanitary conditions.

There are also feeder guppies. So I guess the answer to your question would be no... feeder fish aren't necessarily the same as goldfish.

Feeder fish are goldfish but they are not very nice looking. If goldfish do not meet the standards (whatever they are) to be sold as pets, they are sold as food for other fish like piranhas.

Though there are several types of golfish, feeders are still common goldfish, they are just breed in large tanks for that purpose. However if removed to a seperate tank will grow to the size of their enviroment and can get very large. Goldfish don't breed until they are rather large.

Feeder fish can be Guppies, Goldfish and any other fish that is considered a cull. Culls are fish that have deformed fins, bodies or gills but are other wise healthy fish.
