My patio is open and lately a sworm (about 30) of flies linger around there. They are on the brick, furniture, and flying in circles. I have checked the yard for feces, rotten food, dead animals and have found nothing. We didn't have this problem last year. I am about to host a babyshower on the patio and don't want sticky traps hanging down. Is there anything else I can use??

Home Depot sells something called Home Defense, I think... It is a concentrate that you mix with water to do your own fumigation instead of calling an exterminator. A couple of days before the party I would just spray everything around there. Every angle in the flooring, ceiling and surrounding area. You will want to use a pump sprayer but even a pump bottle will work if you have nothing else, just so the proportions are mixed to specifications.

THIS IS CHEAP AND EASY, AND IT WORKS. FILL SOME CLEAR BAGS WITH WATER (ZIPLOCK BAGS ARE PERFECT). HANG THEM UP OUTSIDE. KINDA OUT OF SIGHT. THE FLIES WILL SEE THERE REFLECTION IN THE WATER AND IT SCARES THE $HIT OUT OF THEM. I SWEAR BY IT.
