We didn't evolve from monkeys: we share a common ancestor. Why can't evolution and God go hand in hand? Why does it have to be one or the other? I am a Christian, but I believe in evolution.

First of all scientists are not out to destroy God. They make observations, postulate a process, then experiment and/or observe to either prove or disprove their postulate.
As for evolution it has it's limits but it is a generally accepted principal about all creatures evolving, not just humans. You can point to the missing link and any number of problems with this theory.
The bible also has some big problems in it's creation theory. If God created everything who or what created God? Why did God suddenly get the urge to create a planet and humans? Why did it take him 7 days? I'm not saying it's wrong but the bible doesn't have all the answers either.
Then there is the pseudo-science of Intelligent design. which is basically creationism made to look like science. In which case anytime a process gets complex, it must be a product of God.
You have three seemingly competing theories and nobody was alive when the first humans existed so nobody has got a lock on the truth. So belive what you will, but be tolerant of others opinions.

We did not technically evolve from monkeys. We evolved from a prehistoric specie of apes, which is also the ancestor of modern apes.
It would be very hard to disprove God and it would also be hard to disprove logic. The theory of evolution is based on empirical observations and many researches have already proven some of its points. But it is still a theory, not a universal law. So it may or may not be true. On the other hand, the Bible can be subject to different interpretations.
As Einstein has said, 'Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.'

Wow, you certainly shot down over 150 years of science and accumulated evidence with that example. The only problem is, you're wrong. And I detest when people try and pit religion and science against each other. Here are some concepts of evolution to help you understand the process better. Common ancestor. Branching pattern of evolution. No living organism today is our ancestor - living monkeys today are fully modern monkeys, living humans today are fully modern humans. Stop parroting things that you've heard. I suggest you actually read about evolution before alleging the theory is "full of holes" and then asking a flawed question. Try the link below.

We didn't evolve from monkeys. Monkeys and humans share a common ancestor.
Did it ever occur to you that a) the Bible was written by fallible men subject to their own prejudices and b) God himself is the driving force behind evolution?
You know a lot of scientists believe in God and give him credit for all the scientific processes we observe. Its the insane, narrow minded fundies that have made science and the creator of science enemies.

For the millionth time, humans and monkeys (apes) evolved from a common ancestor. Please, Christians, stop asking that question over and over and over -- it makes you look foolish.
By the way, most scientists accept evolution as REAL, not just a theory -- the evidence is just too overwhelming. The theory part comes into it when you talk about what might be the actual mechanism for causing evolution to happen. The fact that creatures change over time is obvious. HOW they change is the theoretical part.
It's like gravity. We know it's real, we can see its effects all around us. Trying to describe what causes gravity would be theoretical.

You believe god exists; therefore it is up to you to prove your hypothesis (you can't even call the existence of god a theory, because it hasn't gotten past the hypothesis stage - like there actually being some evidence that there is a god). The bible is not evidence. It is a book. That you might somehow "feel" the presence of god doesn't make it so since your "feeling" doesn't make it so any more than a book of stories written by ignorant peasants does.
Scientists don't try to prove negatives, as in trying to prove god doesn't exist.
People don't "believe" in evolution. People "believe" in god. Science is based on facts and evidence, not beliefs.

Why can't people believe in both God and the evolution theory? I'm a Catholic but I don't see any problem in believing that they can coexist side by side.
1) God created the world in 7 days....but in ancient languages the word for days was often the same or similar to the word for 'a period of time' therefore it is possible that they mean gGod created the world in 7 ages. And as we know life did come about in the order specified in the Bible.
2) Evolution says that we come from a common ancester as monkeys/apes not that we are directly from them. We are two different paths from (possibly) the same starting line.
If you believe in God - why is it so hard to believe that something as complex as evolution is part of his plan?

How is what the bible says more logical than the theory of evolution? Is it really more logical to believe that God got bored one day and created the world?? Is it logical to believe that God ripped a rib from Adam's chest and used it to make a living breathing woman??? How exactly was that accomplished??? The bible is illogical....a nice story, but not a feasable explanation as to how humans ended up here.

How can you know so little and still twist what you have heard (from others)?
Why do you claim that scientists are 'trying to make up theories that disprove god exists' when they don't?
How can you be so dumb, did you take extra training?
If children come from parents, why are there still parents?
