OMG. once. LAST NIGHT. I heard a gun shot next door as I was putting my baby in her crib. My husband was gone, so I hid in the hall with baby and called 911.
the police were here in 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, quite a few. When I was married, my ex was physically violent and I had to call 911 at least 5 times. I have had to call at least 5 times in the last ten years for other things too. We used to have a neighbor who had a serious drug problem and she would go crazy and fight with her boyfriend. Ah, city living.

2 times, my son and I were driving down a 2 lane and almost hit an elderly woman who has dementia and got out of her house-we stopped and waited with her until her son came...911 never dispatched anyone. Another time I was headed to work and saw a woman standing in the middle of the road screaming....I called and they came and took her to Psych..

when Illyana (my 4 year old) had a febrile seizure when she was only 9 months old. Her fever had spiked to 106 (!!!) when it happened. That was about the most helpless I have ever felt in my entire life! Thank god that the fire dept. was just down the road!
