What you wear is largely dictated by society anyway, even if you think you're being individualistic. Every item of clothing in shops today has been designed and pre-approved by fashionistas in high places, and has gradually filtered its way down into high street stores.

I always think I'm being funky and different when I put a few different pieces together, then find out that there's somebody wearing something similar! I guess it's about your own interpretation of society's expectations. Does that make sense?

I'm always impressed at people who design and make their own clothes, it's an amazing skill and they really know their own personality rather than following the crowd!

Hi Silkie,

Oh, absolutely what I want, but not stuff to offend other people, but what is different, clothes that make one stand out from the crowd.
I wouldn't wear anything that looks tarty that's not my style.

I like to see other people's stamp on style, Gothic punks with the black lipstick and chains, so it's not only how I dress, but I like the freedom that kind of impression makes, and what it says to other people.
Teenagers should be allowed to express themselves in their dress without being frowned on as long as it covers what is necessary to cover.

So no, I don't think about what society expects...

Since I want to be comfortable AND I don't care what society expects, I wear what I want. :)

Wear what I want. Who gives a crap about what society thinks about what I wear.

First off, I don't care what people think I should dress like, especially the fashion
industry. I wouldn't wear most of their stuff to a dog fight. Second, I'm me and I
won't allow my self to be shoved into a cookie cutter mold. Third, I'm not rich, so
I buy what I like and feel comfortable in, even from WalMart. I still wear jeans and
jean jackets and t shirts and if someone doesn't like it, {I'm 65} they don't have to
look at me. : }

Do you do anything you want or what you think society expects?

a bit of both really, i dress how i want but society says i should wear clothes whilst out on the street, even if it's really hot so i am kind of conforming. sometimes i really want to not wear anything but i have to cover up my naughty bits.
