Now it seems it is the same as the AM we tried to get rid of. People talking over the beginning & ends of songs, none stop chatter. I'm suprised they don't put commercials between tracks on CD's now.

Christi F I'm not as old as the Stones but older than U2. I don't know about sirius or xm but it may well be. Back in the 60's FM dedicated sides of albums between a couple commericials but none of the screaching done by the DJ's today Sometimes they would play double albums. It was great. Smoke some weed Red Columbian & just groove all day. Worst experience was "YES" music I hated that band

Radio has also killed off the DJ .
The DJ of today is just there to lead you into a commercial or give a service announcement .
DJ's had the power to work their playlist and they provided knowledge of the groups and music .
Since the corporations took over a playlist is the same 200 songs everyday and you have no connection to a local DJ .
Most of the time the DJ is not even in your town he is probably in NY or California .
It really is pathetic because the corporations have ruined radio for the fans .
I miss the days when i can hear a whole side of a Doors or Led Zep album .

I remember WNFEW-FM in New York during the 1960s and 70. Wow. it was really entertaining. Lots of non commercial music. Long song playing. Today just not the same.

FM radio has become horrible. Since it is mostly run by giant companies such as Clear Channel who own the majority of the FM market, they have the freedom to do what they want and use as many commercials as they want. Unfortunately, for the listener, this means the same songs are played, often as a result of Clear Channel being paid or radio stations being paid to promote certain artists. I would suggest getting XM radio. I've had it for five years and it is awesome. You get non-stop music with no commercials and you get to hear certain songs/bands you would otherwise not hear on FM.

The music has always been the "icing on the cake" between commercial stop sets.
Yea, it's great to think about more music. That doesn't pay the bills at the station.
With Satellite radio there is a subscription. It all depends on what your threshold is...listen to commercials= payment or subscription.

mutually as you get a pair of public get admission to stations that save it from being an entire flop, for the main section, FM radio is surely horrid. in recent times, there is little spontaneity in FM radio. they have set playlists, designed to overplay despite rubbish the super checklist labels attempt to shill to the final public. there is little or no criminal room for the DJ to improvise something. cyber web radio is plenty extra constructive, IMHO. It performs better than in basic terms the prevalent super checklist label albums. (needless to say, the super checklist labels are threatened via this, so as that they have got been doing each little thing of their ability to sink the internet radio stations.)

Well, I remember 30 minutes of music between commercials, but never a whole album for just one group or artist before.
Please don't give advertising agencies ideas.

Radio sucks today. AM used to be the place for pop music, dj chatter, etc. FM was where you could find album tracks, etc. Now it's all just hip-hop garbage and computerized dj's.

Don't give them any ideas!! I long ago quit listening to the radio for that reason...started listening to the 24 hour news channel instead ( while driving), but always bring a herd of cds to listen to, so far with no commercials. At home I either hook up my ipod to my stereo system or play cds...never listen to the radio anymore.
