we're not psychic. Why don't you just ask him. Don't be surprised if he dumps you for being insecure.

You know, it's possible that he might break up with you before he leaves. This wouldn't necessarily mean he doesn't care about you. It's just that he might not know how long he'll be away and doesn't think it's fair for you to have to wait. Or it could be because he doesn't want to get distracted while on the job. I mean, if he's eventually deployed to Iraq, it's dangerous enough as it is. It's possible that thinking of you could distract him and risk his life. There are so many factors when it comes to people in the military.
Whether he does break up with you or not, when he leaves it will hurt. The best thing you can do for the both of you is to live your life to the best of your ability. When you communicate with him, try to keep things positive and light, and let him know that you're always there if he needs you. Joining the military is a tough decision, and he could use all the support from friends and family (and you, of course) as he can get.

talk to him about what's bothering you, going into the military can be tough and out a strain on any couples relationship due to all the time apart, youre young you have your whole life ahead of you you should think about living your life and not being stressed out over whether he is gonna break up with you or not, after he does in it will be your decision of whether you are willing to stay in a relationship where you wont be able to see each other as often as you used to....

By wanting to break up with you before he leaves he is trying to be kind to you in the long run. If you REALLY feel you love him and he is for you don't let him make the decision on his own without consulting you. You'll live to regret it just like I have!
