well it was a mix between the series 3 and the original defender,it was designed and tested for the army in 1982 but never really took off, mainly because the defender came out a year later, but it has the shell of a series 3 but it was extended to 110inches and the grille and bonnet where the same as the defender, but wings were still series 3 design, also the seat were the same as a defender, this is where the defender really began, land rover took the designes and made the defender, but the series 3/defender mix was never really a road car only used by the army, until they were sold off after a year or less, and we just got one for £900, supposedly they are rare, very few made just dont know treu value

They used the v8 s111 over here in New Zealand until only recent when they were replaced with nissan's. The biggest difference being the 110 (defender) has coil springs compared with the s111 109 (v8 series 3)having leaf springs. the width of the diff and axles is larger this is made clear by the added flares fitted to the gaurds on the 110's. The gearbox on the v8 is much stronger than the normal s111 and i think it came from the Range Rover.
As for your question the V8 series 3 is worth more than your standard series 3 but not at a point where it is worth a great deal of money. Hold onto it for another 20 years and things will change though.

What do you mean by a Defender/Series 3 mix? They are different vehicles, although they look alike. The Defender is still in production, while the Series 3 stopped being made years ago. Here in the UK there are plenty of Series 3s about - some people say they are the last real Land Rover!

Land Rover in the states is actually disliked by many.

They are difficult to get parts for and even repair techniques are hard to find.Everything is different from the customary automobile.
