the problem is when i want to type my email address instead of the at symbol all i get is this i have set the language and region to uk and it still does not work so any help would be great

You are getting the " sign because your keyboard is set to UK. Change it to "USA" and you will get the @ sign instead.

if you have the " on top of the 2 your regional settings and keyboard are UK, if not try US

Are the drivers for your keyboard up to date? You could probably stand to upgrade them. Especially with a new OS, your old drivers may not be compatible with the OS.
