I have a tank with 4 guppies plus a few babies, 4 neon tetraz, 2 catifsh, 2 nails and plants... I bought the catifsh and when i put them in with the other fish they were ok at first.. but now they are swimming across the front of the tank back and forth, up and down. Its been 3-4 hours. Are they stress???

sorry guys .. tank is 25L with filter and heater.. tank temp is 25/26 degrees with out the heater even on! I'm vvvv new to this .. I think its one of 2 things.. not enough room? (Will they get used to it?) or light to bright? or nitrate levels are too high? They are eating and resting on the bottom and then next thing you know they are going crazy again! They are approx 3.5 cm long..
Tetra's and guppies are fine? Guppies were alittle 'put out' when i put the catfish in.

some of your other answers are on the right track, this could be one of a few different things. I too have an albino catfigh and I have seen the albino cory's too. Cory's are very small usually at first, I think you must have the albino that looks more like a regular catfish, and I have two of them. At first mine did the same thing too, and they were in a 75 gallon tank. When that tank crashed on the bio filter, I was able to save one of them, and I transported him to my 15 gallon tank. What I have noticed about the albino's is they seem to be light sensative. When the lights are off in the tank, he'll come out and around and eat and be visable, when the lights are on, he hides in the plastic terrace I put in there. When he was in the 75 gallon tank, he just hid in the hollow plastic log I had. I think the biggest thing is a matter of lighting, and he'll settle down. How big is the tank and how big is the catfish will be another factor, as well as how cycled the water is.

some fish do get hyperactive whilst presented to a tank, yet 4 days sounds somewhat long to me. it fairly is many times cautioned to maintain Cory catfish in a small team because of the fact they're gregarious, so he must be worried because of the fact he has no conspecifics with him; or because of the fact he does not have adequate hide, interior the kind of flowers, etc - is that this the case?

Elsie, you need to tell us how big the tank is,and what kind of catfish you have. There are albino cats that will eat everything in your tank that will fit in their mouths.

Completely normal!! They are quite funny to watch sometimes as it looks like they are going mental and are having some sort of fit, Really lovely lively fish, dont be alarmed! It means you have given them a really acceptable enviroment! They love it!!!! BE PROUD!!!

by albino catfish do you mean a corydora or a plec? i suspect a cory.
if it's a corydora, that's completely natural. when they're babies they're very active and zoom up and down and all over the place. although pacing the tank maybe a sign they need more room, you don't say what size your tank is.
