...we all know Britain was invaded by William in 1066 but I feel Britain was invaded again in 1948 when the 'Empire Windrush' landed at Tilbury docks bringing the first wave of imigrants...for they have been coming ever since and in my opinion, constiture an invasion of England. Had they come with guns and bullets we would have fought to the death to repel them but instead they simply bought a ticket and we welcomed them with open arms. An invasion by stelth.

The England our fore-farthers fought and died for has been given away. These heros must be turning in their graves....for as more and more imigrants come so more and more English people leave.

This latest invasion may have taken 60 years but we have lost...my England is lost.

And what exactly is your England? Not the land of toleration that I know, which has welcomed all kinds of people through the ages. And what is an English(wo)man? The Britons who were chased to the Cletic fringes by the invading Anglo Saxons? The Danes who harried those Saxons? The Norman French who invaded? The Huguenots who escaped from persecution in Catholic France? The Dutch who came over with William of Orange? The German royal family who were invited to reigh over us? The Italians and Chinese who settled here in the 19th century? Also don't forget that the immigration from the Empire/Commonwealth was in no great part due to the fact that many working class who now join the NF etc. were too proud to do the menial jobs filled by those immigrants - London Transport had to set up a recruiting office in the West Indies as white Brits were too proud to work the unsocial hours demanded and there was a serious staff shortage. I think our fore-fathers would be spinning in their graves to read the racist tripe you are peddling - including the Gurkas who fought for us and the regiments of men from all parts of Empire who fought and gave their lives so we can enjoy our present freedoms, including the freedom to post inflammatory messages such as the one I am replying to.

To foxy - where did I mention the Scots? Can you read?

And your point is? England has been over run by hordes of outsiders since the Ice Age - - - but eventually English traits rub off on the foreiners and they become Brits - - - it happened to the Angles the Saxons the Jutes the Danes the Normans the Dutch the Hanoverians - - - something about England civilizes the savage hordes.

Peace...

I presume you are forgetting about the Roman Invasion, the Viking Invasion, The Angles and the Saxons...Oh its a colour thing then is it? You have heard of the two world wars when Commonwealth countries fought side by side with us against the Nazis and the Japanese, although I presume your family was busy on the black market, and not doing much fighting...and hoping Hitler would win so you could exterminate everyone who didn't conform...Thankfully your England never existed....just bugger off, ignorant pig.

Sorry to shatter your nostalgic longings for the days of King and Empire but......

The early post war immigrants such as those who arrived at Tilbury were *asked* to come over-- they had been invited to move to England and what's more the amount of money they were allowed to bring with them was deliberately limited.

You see, two world wars had taken their toll on the serving classes and we wanted that back again, so who better than Johnny and Jenny Foreigner to serve us tea, cut our hair and shine our shoes. The joke was on us in the end as lack of money just made a lot of immigrants work harder, set up their own businesses and ultimately, become quite well off. Good on 'em too. Britain has been a country of cultural diversity for thousands of years. Long may it continue to be so.

with all due respect but dont mix invasion with immigration .
i did not hear of an invasion, where the invaded country provided shipping .

did the nearly 500 immigrants from the caribbean take over england? no

did they annex it? no

did one of the immigrants become prime minister? no

and as far as i recall neither of them was crowned king /queen .

so i ve to disagree i dont see an invasion like in 1066 here.

what i see is an addition of some plurality to the british society.

what did you expect? the british went out and occupied many countries , exploited them, subjugated them and told them how superior you are. and now you seem surprised that some of the native people of some colonies want to see and live in that Great Britain ? ;)

in my humble opinion you should not see it as invasion but as enrichment of your society.

These "invaders" held British passports and some of them undoubtedly voluntarily fought alongside your heroic English fore-fathers.
