of the 3 theological virtues Faith ,Hope and charity. Charity is the most supreme.(charity is translated as love in some bible versions)
1 COR.13:13. And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

of the 7 contrary virtues (called this because they are used to fight the 7 deadly sins) i believe humility to be the greatest.
If you have Love (charity ) the rest fall into place

Though not quite popular as a 'virtue' , Self-awareness takes care of all other virtues. Just that it has to deepen way beyond the sensory level perception, so that a person can experience every thing around as a part of oneself, and then no ethics or virtues are needed !!

According to Meister Eckhart, the highest virtue is the perfection of disinterest in creatures. An egoless state which achieves the purely creative relationship with reality.

Love......God is love and there is none more supreme than him.
This may sound like a cliche but I'm not talking about placing a flower in your hair and free sex love, that is how the world often defines it. I'm talking about, sacrificial, from the heart love that has keeps no record of wrongs, doesn't boast, it's patient, kind, not self serving. What remains is faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love.

I think it is the virtue of humility, that is, knowing one's limitations. Laws are followed, other virtues are applied, and order eventually follows.
