Don't you think if they had put any other type of music it would have changed the atmosphere? The mood continues even when the song has finished so they are giving you something extra. Every now and then you can hear echoes of the Moonchild and then the music turns playfull again.
The party is over but continues for a while.

Grateful Jerry, it does conjour up that kind of image of the Moonchild. The animation is a good idea, but I think it would be hard to turn those images into pictures. Maybe a Fantasia type thing would be the best way to attempt it. Thanks for the info about the band, that is informative.

For me, no. I love the improv after Moonchild. I know some don't but for me it's wonderful and beyond words. It paints the perfect picture and is wonderfully surreal. I always see this vision of this "Moonchild" running, laughing and playing with maybe the earth floating behind her. A very cosmic thing. They're are many things like this that King Crimson did that I think would be great in a far out animated movie like Fantasia or the Fantastic Animation Film Festival. By the way, the 21st Century Schizoid Band(made up of former KC members mostly: Peter & Mike Giles, Ian McDonald, Mel Collins, and Ian Wallace) do a nice version of this on Pictures Of A City-Live In New York.

Back in my partying days Led Zeplin was a big thing. I would hear Stairway to Heaven play over and over again in my head for a few days after. Another big one was Jethro Tull and then I'd constantly hear Jim Dandy to the Rescue.
Any other type of music in my day the atmosphere would have been somber at best. Anyways I love music.
