Most dissapointing world cup ever.It has been revealed soon after the Controvercial Australian win against Sri Lanka in the 2007 Cricket World Cup, that Man of the match, Adam Gilchrist used a squash ball to improve his grip in his bottom hand. The confusing gestures he made soon after reaching his century before going on to make 149 ,proved it all.
Sri Lankans deserved the cup since they played fair.
Pakistan coach died misteriously in hih Caribean
hotel room.
Final was on rainy day ICC could have played it next day.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 was in March-April 2007. The venue was West Indies. 16 teams played in the tournament. This world cup is believed to be the worst of all of the 9. Australia won this edition. Australian Glenn McGrath took the most number of wickets and his teammate Matthew Hayden scored the most number of runs. India and Pakistan were the only shock exits with Bangladesh and Ireland replacing these teams. Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer died during the world cup. The final was played between Australia and Sri Lanka.

The ICC cricket World Cup 2007 was the 9th World Cup ever. And this was the first time 16 countries took part in it. It was played in West Indies. Ireland and Bermuda played their first ever World Cup. There were two mishaps in the world cup. India and Pakistan went out in the league matches itself. Ireland qualified for the next stage. Australia didn't loose even 1 match and is now in a winning streak. Pakistan's coach 'Bob Woolmer' died. it was a murder actually. They are still searching for the murderer. 8 teams played the super 8s and 4 qualified for the semifinals. Australia defeated South Africa and Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand to go to the finals. The finals was won by Australia and so, they are the world champions now. there were several records. Many great players are quitting ODIs. Glen Mcrath was awarded Man of the series. The next World cup will be in 2011 in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup was played in West Indies from 13th March to 28th April, 2007. Total 16 teams participated in the world cup. These 16 teams were placed in 4 groups of 4 teams each. Totalof 51 matches were played.
Top two teams from each group qualified for the Super 8 stage. India and Pakistan were not qualified for the Super 8 due to their shock defeat at the hands of Bangladesh and Ireland respectively. Immediately after the defeat of Pakistan at the hands of Ireland, their Coach Bob Woolmer was found death in the hotel Room. Investigation into his death is going on as it is suspected that he may have been murdered.
In the Super 8 each team played 6 matches each and top four teams qualified for the semi finals. Sri Lanka and New Zeland played the first semi final on 24th April, 2007 at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. Sri Lanka won by 81 runs.
The second semi final was played between Australia and South Africa on 25th April,2007 at Saint Lucia. Australia won by 7 wickets.
In the final played on 28th April,2007 between Australia and Sri Lanka, Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 66 runs and won the world cup.

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties as has been proved on number of occasions, nothing can be predicted for sure about the final result of the World Cup. Even considering the current form of teams, winner of the World Cup cannot be predicted as the final outcome will depend upon the performance during the world cup and not the current form. As it stands now all the top 8 teams stand a chance to win the world cup. Whichever team plays to their potential consistently during the world cup will be the ultimate winners of the world cup
