Well, I'm a bit of a computer nerd myself. But this has me baffled, I recently downloaded something and it contained a virus... whoops! I know i have a virus because Internet Explorer unexpectedly opens to a webpage like WinAntivirus (Which is a virus itself!). What else is weird is that I use firefox but nothing happens to it (I guess the virus coding says to open IE..). Please tell me how to get rid of this virus its really annoying!

Hi,
Since you know your way around a computer, I am sure you tried all free solutions like AVG, Avast, Spybot and Ad Aware. Try Spybot and Ad Aware if you haven't.
If none of this works, than HijackThis most certainly will. Download it from www.download.com, Run it. Parse through the records very very carefully. You should be able to see hotkeys and HCLU entries that don't belong to any genuine programs on your computer. Delete them.
If you can't figure out what to delete, post the HijackThis log here or on any other HijackThis forum.
Let me know if this helped.

Winantivirus and its scam advertising and the other malware (Amaena popups) that is bundled with it, is often caused by the Trojan Vundo, also known as Virtumonde.
Most "all-purpose" anti-malware products such as AVG, Norton, Spybot S & D, etc. cannot remove or even detect Vundo, as you have found out.
VundoFix.exe has become the standard removal tool for Vundo / Virtumondo.
VundoFix.exe is a free removal tool developed to remove Virtumonde infections. To use the tool follow the instrctions on the web-site:
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/24/2/
Hope this helps, it does help in a lot of cases.
Good luck.

do no longer click on specific what ever you do. I had an analogous factor. Say factor that a virulent disease were detected and to give up it to click on the specific button. this isn't any longer a treatment. you're letting the Virus onto the workstation and any anti Virus tender positioned on will no longer be able to give up it. as quickly as I did it it enable in over 3 hundred viruses. It fee a bomb to repair and nevertheless no longer a hundred%.

I had the same problem with winantivrus on my other computer, this did the job for me, and was the simplest solution. Ad-aware, spybot and AVG didn't work to get rid of it, but prevx does.
Have a nice day :)

IE 7 if you are using this than god will help you only, if IE6 than download Portable Ad Aware SE Pro & NOD 32. You have not mentione if you have scan with Antispyware than antispyware scan will solve your problem. Otherwise Copy Portable abovesaid S/Ws & scan your system. Anti virus can't identify spywares.

and just think about it. what if those anti virus were actually the one who is spreading all these viruses more often.. they need to earn money you know?!

Personal experience. if you are talking about WinAntispyware.
Goto http://www.micosoft.com
Follow the links to the security section and run the malicious software removal tool through your system.
WinAntivirus is then erased for you by microsoft.
Then instal windows defender and you will have no problem with malware, adware, trojans and worms.

Ah if you think your antivirus is not in a mood then i think you should try a boot scan if your antivirus has the feature but if the feature is not there then go to tucows.com and there you find a freeware antivirus having the feature and also up to date
