Hi,

Looks like the USB port on your laptop is USB1.1 and not USB2. That may be the reason your hub is not working on it.

Look at the underside of your laptop. You will be able to see a model number on the service tag. The model number may be different than what is printed near the screen of your laptop.

Using this model number, visit the manufacturers website or google it with keywords technical specifications, . Read up the specs and check what version the USB port is.

If your USB port is USB1.1 you have the following 2 options:
1. Buy yourself a USB1.1 to USB2 converter.
2. Get the ports changed to USB2 (if your motherboard supports it)

If this is getting too confusing, come back and update your question with yoru model number, and I will try to help you out.

Hope this helps.

Is the hub powered is first question, if so do the lights all come on.
If it CAN take a power supply, use one.
If you plug a USB2 hub into a USB1.1 port it WILL WORK only at USB1.1 speeds. There are no such things as USB1.1 to USB 2 converters to thanks to that idiot for the "great advice"
USB HUB does NOT require drivers, Windows has them
Most likely issue is simply power feed from laptop cannot drive the hub properly. If the HUB is not powered try to exchange with supplier for a powered one.

Is it a "mains powered" hub (it has it's own power supply)?

Laptop USB ports are notorious for not having adequate power, especially when they are running on battery.

Does the hub work when the laptop is on mains power?

Does it come with a power supply ? also, does your laptop have USB2 already ?

It needs external power to run a USB2 hub

Your laptop must have USB2 already before you can use a USB2 hub, you cant just plug USB2 hub into a USB1.1 port and expect it to work, it wont.
