In WV the landlord has to file an eviction in magistrate court. They set the court date a week later because they have to serve papers to the tenant. If they have trouble finding the tenant at home then they'll postpone the court date. The magistrate will usually give the tenant 30 days to move out. So, if all goes well, it takes 37 days. If the tenant hasn't moved out at the end of 30 days then you have to get the sheriff to come and "set them out" which basically means they stand there while you change the locks. You have to hold the tenant's belongings for 30 more days. That's how it is in WV. You could probably call your county courthouse to find out if it's the same in Arkansas.

It really depends on the jurisdiction. In New York it can take months. In some other states it can be done in two weeks, and it isn't required to have a lawyer.
Try a web search on "Eviction {state}" and see what you can find in the way of official publications. Some states have a user-friendly manual to walk you through it. You can always call a lawyer.
