I have torn a calf muscle a week ago, at the moment i am still just about walking on tiptoe, and unable to strighten my leg. Is this normal not to be able to strighten your leg because of the pain it gives. Also, What is it when i put my leg down from having it elevated the pain in the muscle appears, but as soon as i raise it again it goes off.

All the muscles in our legs are connected in one way or another and for every muscle that pulls in a certain direction there is another muscle that pulls in the opposite direction. If you have torn your calf muscle it will screw up your whole leg function and if you try to compensate with the other leg it will eventually mess that leg up too. Your leg needs to be immobilised so the muscle can heal correctly and then ideally you need physical therapy to get the muscles working in the correct fashion. If you have not gone to a doctor you are going to be sorry and probably walk with a limp the rest of your life. Muscles must be immobilised in order to heal.

Aaargh... I have had a few of these -- you need to see a physio - they will use the ultrasonic thingy on it and massage around it... you will end up with a massive knot in your muscle - get help for this one...

Because of how long this has been going on I would recommend that you see your dr to have them evaluate the situation to see what they think could be going on.

i think you should see a physio-my mate did something similar and she was on crutches for what seemed like months but then she seen the physio and she got much better x
