Hi, Honey is the most known apicultural product, it is a substance that the bees produce through a complicated process of elaboration, where they absorb the nectar and deposit it in their stomach, then go back to the beehive to deliver it, throwing up repeated times; this way ferments, acid and albumen are added to the nectar. It contains most of the essential mineral elements that our system needs. There have already been found, in the honey, more than 180 different nutritional substances.

Honey consumed as food is important for the balance of the biological process of the organism. It contains glucose and fructose, which goes directly into the blood, becoming an energetic product. Honey can be used as food, as a natural sweetener and as medicine. After some time of use, it assists in the control of rheumatism and arthritis, prevents all types of respiratory illnesses and helps in the digestion. Honey is also used on the skin and is an ingredient for some shampoos. It is used extensively in the cosmetic industry as well (creams, cleanness facemasks, tonics, etc.) because of its astringent and softening qualities.

The flavour, aroma and colour of the honey differ according to its botanical origin, in accordance with the flowers from where the bee has removed the nectar to manufacture it. The climate, humidity and even the altitude will interfere in these characteristics of the honey. Usually, the clear honey presents weak flavour and aroma. The honey of darker coloration is richer in proteins and minerals.

Here goes an advice: honey fattens less than sugar. 1 tea-spoon or 5g of honey = 16,4kcal. It is also the best option for kids. Biologists concluded that honey is the best source of carbohydrates and energy for athletes and mature people and kids.

Now do not laugh but I inherited Apiary, bee hives and bees. Yes I knew zero about Bees, let alone Honey Bees so it was a fast learning curve. The benefits of honey are indeed many. First the bees will be flying from sun rise to sun set can cover 20 mile radius and will collect pollen from a wild variety of plants. So if you have 'hay fever' eat the local honey you will desensitize yourself. Bees stings, well not willingly because if a honey bee stings you, the bee will die, sad really. If stung and I was, many times the numbness was excellent for pain relief and I have Arthritis. Honey is easy to digest so for conditions later on in life like Arthritis, refined food is not good, pure food is, so get rid of the refined sugar, eat honey. Cuts, they use honey plasters on ulcers of the legs, in elderly or diabetes. I have known elderly people with cardiovascular disease who had ulcers and the drug treatment not work, but honey did. The fun side to take time out and watch the honey bees work. If you can imagine a Big Airport, well the bees leave and return with yellow pods of pollen attached to their rear legs. In the height of summer, they are over loaded, so will literally fly straight into the front of the hive, bang, fall down, unconscious to the slit and then crawl in. Then when the swarm happens, the new Queen leaves with half the drones and you end up watching and waiting. They look like a twister, big black spiral and then eventually land. Once they land and swarm around the Queen they look like a football and then the person in charge, me, has to collect them. When it came to getting the honey out, they will fly after you for stealing the honey, so you run into the garage rear door, strip off the clothing and run out the front into the house, lock all the doors.
Honey Bees are facinating to have, honey is excellent to eat and assists with hay fever, cold, coughs, let alone ulcers.
Actually I miss not having the Honey Bees.

Honey has vitamins and is a very good source of carbs, without the bad effects of sugar. Curing diseases and killing bacteria is advocated by some, but I don't think it is proven or that you can rely on;y on honey to cure you. It helps with constipation, for sure, and generally is beneficial for your health. However, it must be used in moderate quantities, as it is a form of sugar of course and you don't want it to increase your blood sugar level or cause obesity. 1-2 teaspoon a day is perfect.

Don't give it to them if they are under 1. I don't know if it will cure diseases but I do know that if you will eat local honey that is made from the plants in your area it will build your immune system and help with allergies.
