Did Hitler, Manson & Falwell & Their Ilk Deserve Love Of Their Fellow Man?

I asked the ? about rejoicing in Falwell's death as I do.

I was accused of being spewing hatred myself.

So I ask you. Should good-hearted loving tolerant fair-minded liberal people like me love and tolerate the hateful intolerant, like Hitler Falwell and Charlie Manson, or must we fight the hateful and intolerant with hatred and intolerance?

Consider clearly in terms of Hitler.
You either tolerate and respect his invading genocidal ways... or you invade and destroy him.
Does that make you just like him?

How DARE you compare Hitler and Manson to Falwell!!!
At least Hitler and Manson were quite upfront about who they wanted to kill, and why. Falwell had an immoral and secret agenda to destroy anyone who didn't practice his particular brand of faith. -RKO- 05/16/07

Well, emotions run high when someone is so vehemently evil as to preach such hate, and I hear you.
Now, I am blissfully politically ignorant, so when my (Jewish) boyfriend turned to me and said, "So Jerry Falwell is dead. Thank goodness and it should have happened sooner!"
I thought this very fair and loving man was out of his mind, or was showing me some hidden evil I should run from!!!!
There was no way I could agree with the rest of what I heard after that revelation of hatred within him.
I am not a believer in anything magical, and that includes "God".
However, I truly believe that we must love our enemies. This does not have to mean anything more than hoping that they fix their horrific problems and become decent, as unlikely as it seems.
This does not mean that we do not punish the person in order to prevent more hell-on-earth.
But it DOES mean that we must take the position that "There but for the Grace (of god) go I", and wish the best outcome for ALL of mankind.
Now, if not for Christianity, we also have Immanuel Kant.
His laws of ethics demand that any action (and speech of hate is action, and thought of hate is action)
Any action must be in keeping with one that should be performed in EVERY circumstance.
This means that if it's OK to hate Hitler and Jerry Falwell, then it's OK to hate your aunt who's schizophrenic, and the student in your class who has behavioral issues and ruins your lessons.
You can't go around hating everyone- not only does it break down society, it also breaks down your own emotional fiber.
So, you must your enemies,
even if it only means wishing them well and beating a quick retreat from them otherwise.

Those men don't belong in the same categories. Jerry Falwell spoke hate, he never killed anyone or asked that anyone be killed. Why would you rejoice in his death, that seems a bit petty and childish. Now that he's gone there will be someone to take his place that'll probably be worse.

From your question and comments I wonder about the fair-minded part. People are all humans (or we would like to think so). They have their good and bad, their days of elation and their days of despair. When “Judging” your fellow man – look at him/her like a human with needs and wants – victories and failures and get past the hype you don’t have the personal experience to evaluate. You then can be Fair-Minded.

When the matter is concerned with life and death, we have to stop the murderer. When a violator tries to rape ur daughter, would u use only weapon which use the violator, or without any weapon at all. Of coarse u wouldn't. When u r dealing with agressor, u r free in choosin how to defend yourself or your family/friends.
And u needn't to love or hate him.
