"They attacked us because they hate freedom" is a frequent refrain of the Bush administration. Giuliani is just signaling his agreement with Bush foreign policy by mouthing the same words. You're right, it makes little sense, but it's been repeated so often that many people think this is a good and complete answer to the question of why the Islamic terrorists hate the US.
I agree, Giuliani is the worst candidate. He's made some eyebrow raising anti civil liberties statements such as this:
"freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it.”
Of course, this doesn't square with Islamists hating us for our freedom ...

I couldn't agree with you more on this. Rudy Giuliani is a goon! Ron Paul was factually correct on the statement that Giuliani asked him to retract!! It's laughable! The mainstream media keeps reporting how much applause Giuliani received after his attack on Ron Paul. Those applauding were from a stacked deck and it was in no way a measure of Giuliani's accuracy on the matter. I honestly think it made Giuliani look not only idiotic, but vicious. He feels so threatened by Ron Paul and it really showed. Think about it. Nobody ever kicks a dead dog. The fact that he felt the need to kick him and kick him hard says a lot about Giuliani. If he didn't feel inferior to Ron Paul, then he wouldn't have attacked him the way he did. I also agree with you on Giuliani's illogical explanation for terrorist attacks: "They attack us because they hate freedom". It is such a worn out, nonsensical saying. It is astonishing that this hogwash still holds water with a lot of the populace. Goes to show how ignorant and "dumbed down" the masses really are.

Ron Paul will be holding a news conference tomorrow with Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA's Bin Laden Unit, to discuss flawed American foreign policy and its implications on terrorism, security and Iraq.
The press conference will be held at 9:30AM EST on Thursday, May 24 in the National Press Club Lisagor Room.

Youre absolutely right. Giuliani is a total idiot, and he'll never make it to the actual election, or at least, I sincerely hope not.
At this point, I would only vote for 2 of the 18 candidates. The two who arent afraid to tell the truth. One is Ron Paul, and other is my candidate, former Sen. Mike Gravel.

I think Rudy Guiliani was finished after he said "I do" and married his cousin, of which he remained married to for 14 years. Sadly, this has been his most successful marriage to date.
I think Rudy Guiliani was finished when he sent in the first of several checks to Planned Parenthood to continue their campaign of abortions without restrictions.
I think Rudy Guiliani was finished when he was filmed in women's clothing for the first time. He has worn women's clothing in public on dozens of occasions.
If any candidate is in the wrong party, its the cross dressing, pro abortion inbred marriage freak from New York.

They did attack us because they hate freedom. They want to rule the world with their religious beliefs. They hate what we allow to put on TV and radio and that we don't have many moral restrictions. They hate Christianity and Judiasm. Paul's answer is what is appalling.
What does being a Christian have to do with anything?

I think Ron is correct, but I don't think he carried himself well last night... he looked a bit nervous most the night, understandable.
I get a kick out of Fox commentators that are still trying to keep us in fear. Terror is a money maker not only for Grumman, GE, Boeing etc.. its good news ratings too. Its really a shame these corporate whores need to put ratings and lining their pockets before the American public. As long as you live in fear, the rich are getting richer. To hell with Fox. God Bless Ron Paul.
Rudy is a one hit wonder.. he has no credentials .. and to think he is using his NY attorney general credentials to run for the highest office in the country. If he were such a good AG.. why the hell did he allow the rubble of the WTC to be shipped to China before a thorough investigation? He is a POS.

You're probably the first conservative on this site that I've heard actually use common sense. It's quite enlightening and rather refreshing to hear a conservative admit to the root cause of terrorism as being related to American foreign policy without feeling like doing so would be terrorist 'appeasin' or a form of capitulation.

That is true. Giuliani is trying to compensate for his pro-choice by acting all tough on national security and speaking like George Bush. I lost all respect for him.

If we would just follow a policy that the Constitution lays out for us we would definitely have less of a hatred for us "Americans" around the world.
