American leaders in particular have often accused govrenments of under-developed and developing countries of cronyism; that unethical business practices are the norm there.

But here we have the US in support of the Pres of the World Bank who clearly engaged in unethical practice when he was found guilty of abusing his position. If the US can influence the World Bank member countries to allow Wolfowitz to keep his job, then what kind of morality, or standard does the US subscribed to?

It's outrageous when the person charged with aiding poor countries enriches himself (or his friend) while in office.

Sadly this does not show Mr Wolfowitz in a good light to the world, his attitude is completely wrong. And goes well with his reputation of uncompromising on major issue`s. But also if Mr Wolfowitz is forced to resign, this could in the short term sourer relations with Europe. Why!, well on the board of the world bank are some people who are unhappy with Mr Wolfowitz involvement during the early stage`s of the Iraq war, so now they can do something about it.

No. His personal history indicates he is (was before?) inappropriate for a position that requires humanity, empathy and compassion.
The fact that he committed an ethical violation involving greed and self-interest not only clinches that he lacks the proper moral code, but is a good legal excuse to get rid of him.

The facts show that he asked the World Bank's board for approval of every move he made, which the board did, but later reneged on its own action.
