the idea of a polarized, red state blue state, america is one of the biggest fallacies.. the truth is that on the issues, most people in america lie in the middle, with very few with extremely strong opinions on either end
and you have to ask who benefits from this? i think the politicians and the media.. think about the last election, it was about gay marriage and stem cells.. hardly anything about the war, healthcare, things that actually matter
i believe that they have created two "teams" in america for a reason.. it gets more viewers, and makes things easier for politicians. people watch news more now because its a like a battle, instead of informing. and politicians dont actually have to work any longer because once they put a "jersey" on you, they know it will be very hard for you to switch teams. thats just human behavior
