Ignoring the very real possibility that you are in America or even a New Yorker: New York. I know it's not the most inspired answer but it has to be done at least once. There is so much going on, grand scale shows, (boy can they do musicals and comedy and don't let any theatre snob tell you they can't do drama) and striking little ones off-off broadway, world famous landmarks (more than you know you know), delighting in listening to New Yoik accents (don't expect to hear them in cabs), the highest heights, the array of things in and the very existence of Central Park, dancing on the 'Big' keyboard in FAO Schwartz (toyshop), walking the bridge, spotting locations from great films, (Mr Staypuft's grand entrance was my personal favourite), great range of food, the real and present danger that you could break your neck on the Cyclone rollercoaster at Coney Island (seriously), open air concerts in small parks.
That was all dredged up from 3 years ago.
It made an impression.

Take: walking shoes and the mini 'Rough guide to New York City'

I love New Zealand. I LOVE it! It's beautiful, and there are so many things you can do. Right now they are getting into the end of summer, I think, but it's still such a pretty place. You have the mountains, the beaches, it's like a little piece of heaven. Bring a lot of outdoor gear- because once you see the natural beauty of NZ you're going to want to explore it by taking a nice hike, even camping is lovely. Bring an excellent camera!

Hi!

I have never travelled out of state but I do know that I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world - Western Australia!

I am right down the bottom in the lower south west, so all I can do is tell you what its like down under!

Check out www.mysouthwest.com.au and go to tourism - also try www.australianexplorer.com and www.southwestlife.com

We have heaps of neat things, world class wines and vineyards, marron (freshwater crustatian delicasy) some of the best pristine coastline in the world, the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere, Giant karri forests. Too mush to list. Google locations which include Pemberton, (Western Australia) Busselton, Albany, Bunbury, Perth and Im sure you will get a heap of info!

Anyway, where ever you go have a safe trip!

Australia, preferably Cairns, its so beautiful and chilled out, the people are so friendly, good food at very reasonable prices, lots to see and do, the islands off the Great Barrier reef have the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, the reef is the most amazing thing in the world to see you can be as relaxed or active as you like and make lots of new friends, the only thing you need to bring apart from clothes and spends is an open mind.

Check out North-East Australia if you like the tropical paradise plus the highlands - the rain forest. I get a bit depressed about all the environmental bad news sometimes and places like this recharge the battery. When you are there you somehow feel that there is still a world worth fighting for where nature must run free..

I would have to recommend Austrlalia. I've been to Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. My favorite was Adelaide in South Austrlia. It's a beautiful little city with tons of parks and flowers. The weather is mild, year round. There are tons of vineyards you can visit, nature reserves, the Great Ocean Road and you are a short ferry ride from Kangaroo Island, which is breathtaking. Just think...you can handfeed kangaroos and cuddle a koala. How often do you get the chance to do that?

I haven't seen everywhere in the World by a long way....but I enjoyed a jaunt through British Columbia and Alberta. The scenery was outstanding, but I would bring a car and a camera, all else you can get en-route, although in winter I would bring a very large snow plough....

my favorite place in all the world is home.
I love to travel but like Dorothy there is no place like home,
Sometimes it is nice to get away to a rustic cabin. How about next to a mountain stream , A hammock out back, a good book,. a glass of good wine and a roaring fire in the fireplace!
Sometimes the road less traveled is the most relaxing,
Getting away from it all and recharging is needful at times.

Gatlinburg, TN. My Mama used to take me there when I was little and it hasn't changed a bit. I always take my kids there for a few days after Thanksgiving. It's quiet and quaint and very twinkly. The people are the friendliest in the world and something about the air just makes you glad to be alive.

Cape Breton Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Why? I hate the heat and crowds. It is peaceful, clean and beautiful all by the sea. We take the *8PM boat out of Portsmouth, NH (another beautiful spot) with our car and pups. We are there at 8AM next day. Lots of history too if you like that. We are nature lovers and always enjoy going there. It's also inexpensive as vacations go.
