I think it should ONLY be allowed in Australia.
That's where they put all the lepers and criminals in the old days right? So why not homosexual marriages too?
I'm kidding =)
I believe that everyone should be free to love whoever they want, whether it be another female or male - as long at they are both consenting adults, who should butt in and tell them they can't love each other.
And I believe they can be married in any country in the world.
*why should straight people only be allowed to be unhappily married, let the gays get in on it too*

Yes. Definitely; Of course being Canadian where it is already legal across our great country, I may be a little prejudiced. My partner and I have been together for 27 years and have said in the past that we didn't need marriage because we had all the same rights of as common law partners. However the more we fought for the right to marry for the GLBT community, the more we felt like hypocrites. So this June 2007, we are getting married at the ages of 70 and 78. We are in awe at how our families and friends are supporting us. My oldest son is my best man and my partner's brother is his best man. My granddaughter is taking part in the ceremony. Overall, over 70 guests will be at the wedding with majority of those being family members.
So all I can say to Australia and all its inhabitants is "Go for it"! You won't regret it.

What you need to answer before you can answer this is what is marriage.
It is a judea chritian instiution that was instituted so that a man and a woman would be made into a single entity. They as such completed each other.
How anyone can then take this institution and use it in another way is not marriage at all, but a new thing onto itself.
So no it should not be allowed. If you want any two people together then call it a civil union, not a marriage.

Gay marriages - Civil Partnerships - are a breakthrough! Nick and I are getting married in the near future and are really excited about it! It means we can exchange vows and have more security/stabilty in our relationship.
In most countries religion condemns homosexuality so many gay people are repressed. I guess Australia is rather more liberally-minded so YES a gay union (marriage) should be recognised and allowed!

I live in South Africa and gay marriage (Civil Union) is allowed. I just think that we should be allowed to get married. Not all gays believe in marriage and for those who do and want to, why not. Australia needs to get with the programme. It's neighbour New Zealand already has a Civil Union bill allowing for gays to be married. And soon with Canada, UK, South Africa, New Zealand - (Spain trying to get the bill passed). many countries will be allowing gay marriage.
If I want to marry my boyfriend what's the harm. We should all be given the choice.

I don't really mind either way, but it's important to some gay ppl so i don't see what the problem is. We are entitled to wed like any hetero couple i believe.
My friend lives with her partner (both women) and has a 7yr old child, because the government refuses to recognise gay relationships in Melb, Vic they both earn good money and she still receives a single mothers pension.... stick that johnny boy lol

Of course it should. It should be allowed everywhere!
Don't make the mistake of thinking of "homosexuals", as you call them, as another breed. They are ordinary people just like you, people you see shopping, in restaurants, etc. Not aliens. The only difference is that we prefer our own sex. Why on earth should be not be allowed to express that love by getting married?

I'm a firm believer of each to their own, so long as there is no impingement on my individual freedoms Two adults - of consenting age should have every right -
the legality they face state by state is something else!

I don't think there should be a discussion if "gay marriage should be allowed." Politics and religion should have nothing to do with love.

It's already legal in Canada, and a few other countries. Hasn't had negative repercussions.
It's only a legal change, doesn't change religion, which is the only ones saying it's wrong.
