They aren't the ones who fought for freedom of speech. They sit around and want to manage everyone else's freedoms. When one of the Dixie Chicks spoke out against President Bush, this horde of foolish people crushed their tapes and boycotted radio stations in an attempt to ruin their careers. When Joe Wilson spoke truthfully about a trip to Niger, people in the White House deliberately revealed the fact that his wife was a secret agent.
The First Amendment has been sorely trampled these past few years. Thankfully, the Dixie Chicks are back on track, winning awards, and Joe Wilson and his wife have a bang-up lawsuit against people in government, but there are many people who have not recovered from these deliberate attempts to curtail freedoms.
Conservatives deplore Gays, refuse to allow them freedoms guaranteed every other American, and in many other ways try to manipulate and control others. The Patriot Act has curtailed many freedoms and illegal wiretapping is an affront to privacy, in many cases, as the FBI had to admit.
In the meantime, the Red States lead the nation in divorces, unmarried mothers, gun deaths, and violent gun crimes. It looks as though these folks should look at themselves before criticizing others.

The one rule that matters in all Constitutional Law is that "one man's rights ends at the borders of another man's liberty." This means that I cannot enjoy any right at the expense of another man.
As for those who fought for free expression, those of us in the military, past in present, support the free expression more than most citizens. Every sour word, every time some college punk bad mouths the country or the military it is a testiment to our success as a soldier defending our way of life.
At least we know we have done something to preserve those freedoms. What can the anti-military nuts claim as a success?

Basically, the government cant do anything unless youre in court. In public and private affairs it is illegal to slander groups and impolite to slander individuals. These private matter should be solved with vigilantes....

you have the right to free speech but that does not mean you won't pay consequences. I can't tell my boss to bite me and expect to keep my job. The trend now is to limit speech that does not agree with the mainstream media.
