Ive applied for Incapacity Benefit due to ill health. I have sent all forms, letters etc to job center. I have called several times as I havent heard anythingg, all Im being told is claim received and they dont give me any other info, I have never claimed benefit before so dont know what I need to be doing or saying. I am really desperate for ££ as my last wage was march 07. cant afford to feed myself and my child basically. I can go without food but my 14 month old cant. I have spoke to several different people (got names and dates of calls just in case!) and they all advise 11 days from claim receipt which has passed. HELP!! I know they dont care, I just need to sort this ASAP xx

kelly HAS phoned me back, the supposed reason my claim is held back is beacuse my emplyer ended my SSP on 20.03.07 It should have ended 4.03.07 Im entitled to more ££! she is going to c if any payment can be made today as I told her I was really really desperate and in a crisis. Go to the CAB - they can probably chase your claim for you and will also look at your full situation to see if you are enetitled to any other benefits.

Typically , in all Benefits offices, the people processing your claim are snowed under ... so they can take ages .. especially if there is anything 'unusual' about your claim that they need to check or you slipped up on the requested information (even something as silly as failing to sign or date it can lead to the claim being put back)

'Hounding' them won't work, however your could try to speed processing up by asking them what else they need for example, when would they like you to come in for an interview ...
