The interest in Iraq is not to own the oil, it is more to ensure the supply.
Though Iraq is not the worlds top exporter of oil, it is an important contributor.
If this oil was in the hands of another dictator who decided to withhold it's supply, then the cost of oil on the world market would rocket.
Nervous investors would start to shift large sums of money due to the fear of weakening profits and every single household item from a tin of beans to the electricity boiling your kettle would shoot up in price.
The effects of these rises would fuel voter disillusionment with their respective governments and result in leadership changes.
So yes, perhaps some of the leaders have a vested interest in the oil company profits, but most are surely more interested in saving their positions within their governments.

Interest of USA in Iraq is oil.UK or US is not concerned with unified Iraq,so long as there is a puppet regime.A unfied Iraq is not desired by US as it may affect US interests after they pull out.US will happy if Iraq is divided into two mutuallly warring Iraqs(Shia Iraq and Sunni Iraq). They will fight between them US can sell arms to both!!

It is in the history books. Powerful families. Oil companies. Banks.
The CIA coups in Iran that overthrew a democracy and installed the notoriously corrupt puppet "king of kings", Shah Reza Pahlavi, ergo the 1980 revolution against the Americans.
Saudi's ARAMCO = Arabian American (Oil) Company.
Oasis Libya was Chevron drilling for oil in Libya when it was against US law.
It is naive think imported oil is NOT bought from American and UK oil companies that have drilling and production operations in foreign countries.
American and UK oil companies are involved in drilling and production everywhere in the world where there is oil. If you are buying Venezuelan oil, then it really is from a foreign company. They kicked the Americans out so some of the revenues could go to benefit the people.
Ever wonder why the people in Nigeria are so desperately poor when Nigeria is one of the richest countries in Africa? Ask Shell and Mobile. They have been in Nigeria a very long time.
I was in the international side of the oil business for 20 years and my first job was in Iran.
