Its not as stupid a question as one might think. If anyone has ever read Phillip Creamer's book about Babe Ruth you learn that one of this knicknames used a derogatory term for African Americans (the one most recently used by Michael Richards), and the most recent biography about the Babe even makes a mention of questions over his racial heritage.
(Apparently the Babe had a huge following among African Americans, and the reason why was uncredited rumors of his having African American blood in his background.)

He was adopted so it will be hard to answer the question.
ESPN had documentaries in 1999, going into the year 2000. There was speculation that he was part Black. I do not recall the name of the program. It was 100 best athletes of all time.
Maybe it is on DVD. Maybe if you contact ESPN direct.
