Life can be cruel, sometimes, which hardens the heart like a defense mechanism .... my heart was very hardened, but after giving birth to my gorgeous son someone came into my life and showed me a different way...and his father showers me with so much love my heart has softened somewhat.

Lies have hardened my heart more than anything. Nothing like having someone say "I love you" and learn it's a lie to turn you into an ice queen.

Surprisingly, not much. I have a lot in my life to harden my heart, but it wouldn't do any good or help to have harsh feelings. I pray and try to forgive as much as possible. God Bless!

Being married to someone I truly loved for 18 years, only to have her leave, take my kids and find out she had been seeing someone else for 2 years, shacked up with this guy, made fun of me in front of them, then she and this guy were both killed in a vehicle accident.
If your heart aint smart, it needs to be hard. Saves alot of heart-ache. Karma brought my kids home, a hard heart will keep this from happening again.

First - ClarenceOddbody_AS2 I was singing that song in my head after reading the question - when I scrolled down to your answer I laughed and blew water outta my nose (don't laugh and drink at the same time)..
Second - Three of my ex's have. I can't even say that darn L word (no, I can say Lesbian - which I'm not, not that there's anything wrong with it)...anymore except to my kid.
