Nuisance -- hands down. You want to be able to rely on them for news, but all they give you is sensationalism.

News channels, whether 24-hour channels, or local 30-minute channels only report the most sensational news available.

The media is driven by ratings; whether that media is tv, newspaper, or radio. The public-- American, Russian, British, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, African, South American, are gullible consumers of media reporting.

There is no such thing as "pure" news; there is just news; reported according to policies established by the owners and editors of CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and every local tv, radio, and newspaper. Individuals are accountable for assessing what they read, hear, and see, and determining what affect that information will have upon their lives.

In my opinion, people have become "news predators", watching and waiting for the most disastrous; hoping to see, hear, or read about something, or someone, that "proves" to them that people are "evil", or makes them feel more "sanctimonious" about themselves.

Pure crap. None of them would recognize good journalism (or the facts) if it kicked them in the butt. They are just tools of their corporate and / or political masters.
