Most all of the young people who are on American Idol have left their life on hold for almost 6months. That includes leaving their jobs. How much are they paid by American Idol during these 6 months? Enough to pay their rent/mortgage, car payments and support their family? And how about the professional dancers and celebrities on DWTS?

I believe that since last season the contestants in the top 10 on american idol get paid 1000/week they do not have to worry about paying for shelter, food or clothing while on the show so i assume they use that money to take care of their real life bills and such.. plus that get paid a big chunk of change for the tour

The professional dancers must be paid by DWTS, but the celebrities are not. They might get an appearance fee or stipend. I'm sure when they have to travel with their celebrity to practice in wherever they get travel and lodging paid. They get wardrobe for free. They get all of that public exposure.

ON AMERICAN IDOL THE CONTESTANTS DON'T GET PAID THEY JUST LIKE $400 FOR THE CLOTHES. AND ON DWTS THE PROFESSIONALS MAYBE GET PAID BUT NOT THE CELEBRITIES, THEY GET FREE PUBLICITY.
