I tried the "fake nails" remedy. That worked until the nails came off. It really is a matter of willpower. If you paint your own nails with a clear polish at least 2 coats that might help. Also when you take off the polish with polish remover that really helps because the taste of polish remover is just nasty. The vinegar and/or lemon juice trick might help as well. But what worked for me was the polish. I use the Sally Hansen Maximum Growth clear polish and paint my nails every 4-5 days with 2 coats of it. That has made my nails grow very fast and taken the urge to bite them away.

Well I have found that just deciding not to and quiting cold turkey works the best. One other thing that work would be to get fake nails, that way you can't do that.
They say it isn't good for your nails or your teeth to do that. So that's some food for thought. I used to do it alot but I stopped. Now I only do that when nervous or when I broke a nail.
Some people say to soak your fingers in lemon juice for 5 minutes, or hot pepper juice, even vinegar. Best of luck, but I believe you have the willpower to just stop that if you really want to. Best of luck!

It's called "Hoof Stop the Bite" made by the Onyx Laboratories Ltd. The phone # is 501-753-7676. It can be found at wal-mart.

I used this on my son after he started to bite his wrist like his autistic cousin. It tastes bad and will remind most anyone not to do it again.

Place a small scotch tape square on each fingernail. Just a small amount of tape should do, do it every day for 2 weeks.

hot sauce... but if u dont wanna be messy, a special nail polish for nail biters is good too. they dont cost that much, and i think you can find it in drugstores... but if nail biting is a habit for you, it will be hard to stop. this is comin from a nail biter since like elementary school... but try that nail polish, it should work... or jus think of all the germs you put into your mouth time after time, lol...

Put bandages over your nails, I've also heard of using nail polish to make it an unpleasant taste.
