3x^2 - 36x = 0
first get the 3 and x out of the equation
3(x)(x - 12) = 0

this means that x = 0 and x - 12 =0 since 3*0*a = 0 and 3*a*0=0 where a can be any number
so
x = 0 and x =12

Step 0 - write out the equation.
3x^2 - 36x = 0

Step 1 - Factor out the 3 and the x.
3(x)(x - 12) = 0

Step 2 - write your conclusion:
x = 0, 12
Or in plain English, to produce a product of zero, then x must be either 0 or 12.

Unfortunately, this is an easy one -- if you are having problems with this, then it is time to start reviewing your materials.

get the common factor (can be x or 3x) and divide it to the given equation.
for x: x(3x-36)=0
equate to zero: x=0
3x-36=0
3x=0+36
3x=36
divide 3=12

for 3x: 3x(x-12)=0
equate to zero: 3x=0
divide x=0
x-12=0
x=0+12
x=12

3x (x-12) = 0

so x = 0 or x = 12

3x^2 - 36x=0
divide everything by 3

x^2 - 12x=0

x(x-12)=0

x=0, 12
