No. Since the democrats in congress don't want a mimimum wage increase, they put the legislation in the bill the President promised to veto. So it got vetoed.

Abolished minimum wage why should business owners pay goverment mandated wages. Higer minimum wages outplace lower skilled workers out of the job market, and create a sitaution where more will try to get goverment benefits because of unemployment.

The Department of Labor enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which sets basic minimum wage and overtime pay standards. These standards are enforced by the Department's Wage and Hour Division, a program of the Employment Standards Administration.
Workers who are covered by the FLSA are entitled to a minimum wage of not less than $5.15 an hour. Overtime pay at a rate of not less than one and one-half times their regular rate of pay is required after 40 hours of work in a workweek. Certain exemptions apply to specific types of businesses or specific types of work.

But if Democrats really cared about poor people, why not the minimum wage, PLUS THE COST OF LIVING PER YEAR every year?

Wow, I haven't worked for that low of a wage since... since... 1991? I think? I was part-time in college. Maybe 1992... just for some extra dough.
Get some skills and make more money. If you're an adult not clearing at least $35/hour (and you want to) then it's not the government's fault... look in the mirror.
