I totally understand where you are coming from. I am also a mother of two and live in a small town. When it comes to style I have a pretty good eye.
The best advice I have heard was from the Oprah show. She said, "low rise jeans cut your butt in half". Just don't get them so tight that your love handles stick out. Also, longer shirts that cover your tummy or wearing shirts that have layers is in style now. I love to wear layers, and normally I wear a long tank under any cute shirt.
I don't know you or your guy but from my experience wearing a skirt once in a while or a dress shows your sexy side. If you don't normally wear makeup wearing just mascara makes a big difference and is very easy. All I wear is eye makeup and lip gloss. Just show your guy that you care about the way you look.
One more thing that I just remembered, wearing heals makes your legs look longer. Even in jeans! I hope this helps. Good luck and you can find nice clothes that are relatively inexpensive at any Wal*Mart or Big K. Target isn't too bad either.

From A-Former-Fashion-disaster to another seeking help,
Here are a few things that might help.
First remember that your life does not have to fit fashion, fashion has to fit you. What I mean is don’t buy into the fad that are printed on fashion magazines like Vogue Cosmos or whatever else is out there.
If you seek professional advice would recommend going to you local book store and looking at the fashion section (you could also try the library but I never found anything as helpful there). Look for BOOKS WITH EQUAL OR MORE PRINT THAN PHOTOS. I found that they give more help and spell out not only what I was doing wrong but how to fix it too and not do it again. My favorite was "The psychology of your closet" sorry I can't remember the author’s name.
Till them just remember that shoes are important. I love tennis shoes as much as the next tomboy (and they are so construable) But sandal, dressy shoes, and boot look great with blue jeans But whatever you do don't wear t-shirt with this. Try any blouse that doesn't clash with the jeans.
That my secret for a casual look.
As for something to catch your husbands attention I would need more information about your body type, like hight, bra size, waist and hip size.
I am told that men like it when you were something as simple as matching paintis and bras. I know Target has a want to be Victoria Secrete bran that looks close to the real thing. I recommend some lacy boy-short they are more comfortable than any thong. And if you want to dish out the money for a special occasion I would recommend the Fredrick’s of Hollywood catalog or website.

I am with you! all i can afford is wal-mart!Do not and i repeat do not wear low cut jeans! they are not flattering unless you are super thin i know because i am an 18.go for a mid rise jean in a dark wash and do brighter colors on top.Work with your best asset.Shirts that flow away from the body help minimize a large stomach and make sure to keep structure with a fitted jacket and you will look half your size! trust me i have been big my whole life and i love the way i look and embrace it.Also the jean should be either a wide leg(universally flattering) or a straight leg(works for most) just be sure to try them on and remember size is only a number no one else has to know.

Seriously, try looking on ebay.
Tommy makes a nice stretch denim jean in a 14.
I found a NEW pair for $2.50 on ebay and shipping was less then $6.
If you can dig your way through a ton of ebay ads, you'll find something at a nice price to fit your budget and taste (I feel like an ebay ad myself lol).

The brand of clothing doesn't matter. Look for clothing that enhances your curves ( something that will accentuate your waistline). Look for dresses that hug your hips. Buy some lingerie that makes you look and feel sexy. I'm positive that you are sexy and that all you really need is an attitude makeover.

Start looking at thrift stores for your current size clothes that look and feel good. After you have clothes that look right and feel right start looking at diet and exercise options to help you get trimmer. Theres no reason to buy brand new clothes for a size and weight you have no intention of living in.

Style is not only about following trends but finding those clothes and styles that fit you best.
That said here is a great website that allows you to select your wardrobe by size.
