Sounds like they want you to work for them. Assuming you don't have a deep, dark secret past it shouldn't matter which comes first. It actually depends upon the job which comes first. Some companies don't want to waste money checking out someone who is not interested with working for them. Others don't want to make an offer until they know your background check was approved and they want you to work for them.

If you submitted a resume' and or application, they have what they need to do all of those checks. Most companies do the checks up front then offer a job. Just make sure it's an offer you want to take. I hope you have nothing in your background to hide, as it seems you do. Everyone makes mistakes. Some get caught and others don't Good Luck

It makes sense to the company to do those things after the offer. They cost money, and they're not going to waste money doing them for everyone. So go pick up your offer letter and see what it says. If it says contingent on background check, then, yes, they'll do the background check and all that after you accept.

If it was disclosed in paperwork or during a pre-offer conversation then, yes they will do all of that stuff. I got my offer letter THEN they did the drug test backgroung check and all that. If you're in a right to work state (I am) they have the right to fire you if anything comes back bad.

perhaps the offer is contingent upon your passing the background check, etc. After all, if you don't accept the offer, it'd be kind of silly to have paid for a background check on you!

There are some companies that have done things backwards in the past. Perhaps they have not yet done the necessary verifications. If you have nothing to hide then there is nothing to worry about is there?

As long as you told the truth in order to get the job it makes no difference if they check later or not.It is up to them.

Are you sure it is a legit job offer and not a scam to get your personal information?
