Environmental concerns are of secondary consideration. But having a transplant, say, of a kidney, means that you won't need hospital treatment as often. This actually reduces hospital waste and saves money for the patient/ insurance company/ government etc. Dialysis requires a lot of water distillation, chemical cleaners, disinfectants etc, before and during the dialysis, which is needed several times a week. Compared to the operations for the transplant, it is very environmentally unfriendly.
