Cause no one has put up a reasonable bounty on his head. If I was guaranteed 10 mill if I found him dead or alive I would go looking.

This is a very interesting question you bring up. Here is your answer. Ready? You might not like it.
Osama Bin Laden is being protected by the U.S. Government because you see the U.S. Government is in bed (not literally) with Bin Laden's family, a very wealthy family I might add. So, they are protecting him to save their relationship with the billionaire family that Bin Laden just happens to be part of. Thank you and goodnight.

We don't want to catch him. As long as he is free, we have common enemy. the best way to control people is to give them something to be afraid of so they scream for protection. Osama is the face of terrorism in our minds. The government needs him to be lurking around so they can continue to shred the constitution and take away our freedoms.

He has lots of help hiding him. Plenty of money to pay those that hide him. He is in a country with lots of mountains & cave that make it easy to hide from air search & from ground search. Add it to the fact he is nothing but a figure head now, Taliban is run by other leaders now thanks to the Ally search for Osama.

In a land where the local inhabitants see him as a folk hero, it is almost impossible to penetrate the veil of secrecy that he enjoys. Many of the people in the region he may be hiding in see him as a great man, regardless of the pain he has caused them. The language barrier and cultural differences make it almost impossible to infiltrate with our own spies.

He's in Pakistan. We can't go into Pakistan, and they won't search very hard in their tribal areas, or else they have an internal civil war on their hands. The tribes are fiercely independent.
And we can't loose Pakistan's friendship. And, Pakistan is a nuclear armed nation.
Why am I the only one who gave you the straight answer??
